Often referred to as "the Bill Gates of India", Narayana Murthy
is known just as much for his philanthropic work as he is for
his incredible contributions to the business world. His
corporate and social vision has been celebrated globally, and
he is the recipient of several awards including Padma
Vibhushan (India's second highest civilian award), the Indo
French Forum Medal, and the World Entrepreneur of the Year
by Earnst & Young.  He was also listed in Asia's 50 most
powerful people by Asia Week magazine, as one of the 25
most influential global executives by Time/CNN, 8th on the list
of the 15 most admired global leaders by the Economist, and
India's most powerful CEO by Economic Times two years in a
row.

As a leading philanthropist who has focused his efforts on
alleviating poverty in India, Narayana Murthy was recently in
the San Francisco Bay Area to support Akshaya Patra, an
organization that has had tremendous success feeding over a
million impoverished school children in India.
